Admissions
IF YOUR PET IS MISSING, PLEASE CALL YOUR TOWN’S ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER (ACO) AND THE BHS IMMEDIATELY TO FILE A LOST PET REPORT.
FOR A LIST OF ACO’S BY TOWN AND ADDITIONAL RESOURCES THAT MAY IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF A HAPPY REUNION, PLEASE CLICK HERE.
You can and should also file a lost pet report on Maine Lost Dog Recovery or Maine Lost Cat Recovery, both on Facebook. Maine Lost Pets will distribute flyers to all applicable shelters, increasing the chances of reunification. Once you have submitted your report, please “like” or “follow” the page so you can watch for updates.
The longer you delay, the farther from home your pet could roam or be at greater risk of injury.
YOU MAY ALSO VISIT LOST AND FOUND PETS FOR MORE RESOURCES TO AID IN FINDING YOUR LOST PET.
If you can no longer keep your pet, we strongly encourage you to contact our shelter. Discuss your options with a trained BHS team member before bringing your pet to the shelter. To learn more about surrendering your pet, visit REHOME YOUR PET.
