Tribute Gifts
Given in honor or memory of a person or pet, this is the perfect way to recognize those that have touched our lives. Your gift goes immediately to work saving animals. Gifts and donations in honor or in memory of family, friends, pets, or colleagues are welcomed. A lovingly crafted acknowledgment letter is sent from our BHS staff to the honoree or next of kin.

Leave a Legacy Through Planned Giving
A planned gift is any major gift, made in lifetime or at death as part of your overall financial and/or estate planning. In short, a planned gift is one that is arranged in the present to be allocated at a future date. These include gifts of equity, life insurance, real estate, personal property, or cash.
What are the benefits of planned giving?
Planned giving establishes a personal legacy of support for the Bangor Humane Society’s long-term mission of helping animals in need. In short, a planned gift is one that is arranged in the present to be allocated at a future date. Through a planned gift, you may be able to increase your current income or retirement income while reducing taxes on income and estate. Some examples are cash, appreciated property, wills or bequests, trusts, and life insurance.
There are many income and tax advantages for the donor, depending on the type of gift established. We encourage you to seek the guidance of your attorney, financial advisor, estate planner, or accountant to discuss your options. Paw It Forward
Consider a “PAW IT FORWARD” donation and surprise a new adopter by prepaying all or part of an animal’s adoption fee. You can name a specific animal or type of animal (kitten, puppy, bully breed, senior, etc.) Click here for our currently adoptable animals.
Facebook Fundraisers
We are so grateful to all of our Facebook followers who launch social media fundraising campaigns on our behalf. All receipting for those gifts is handled by Facebook. A tax receipt is emailed to each donor immediately after they donate-don’t forget to check your spam folder! If you need a copy of your gift receipt, you can request one here.
